“The Sokoto State Government and its citizens are deeply saddened by this loss. It is a devastating moment for the state.

“We commiserate with the Secretary to the State Government and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, who is the family’s breadwinner. We pray to Allah to forgive the deceased and grant them all Aljannah Firdaus,” Danchadi said.

The Sokoto State Government has extended its condolences to the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammadu Bello Sifawa, following the tragic loss of his daughter, three grandchildren and housemaid in a devastating fire incident.

The fire broke out around 3:00 a.m. on Monday, claiming the lives of Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, the daughter of the SSG; her three children, Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, and Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf; as well as their housemaid, Aishatu Muhammad.

In a telephone conversation with our correspondent, the state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Sambo Danchadi, described the incident as a profound tragedy.

The deceased housewife and her children were laid to rest at the Sheikh Shehu Usmanu Danfodiyo Mosque in Sifawa, the family home of the Sokoto State SSG.

Firefighters battled the inferno for hours before eventually bringing it under control.
